Assessment: An initial assessment is required for new clients or for returning clients after six months. Assessment visits vary from one to three hours, depending upon the referral concern. Previous test results (within three months) from other relevant professional sources will be taken into account and procedures will not be duplicated. A written report is available upon request for an additional fee.
Intervention: All treatment sessions are individual sessions tailored to the specific needs of each client. Sessions are typically one hour or a half hour in length, as recommended by the clinician. The number of sessions and length of treatment time varies with individual needs and progress. Home materials for follow up are typically provided and progress is monitored carefully.
Referrals: Adults can self-refer or parents can refer their child by calling the office for an appointment. Professionals may also refer by phone or fax on behalf of their patient. Many private health insurance plans require a doctor’s referral. Contact us by phone, fax, or email to refer or request more information.
Fees: Halifax Speech & Language Services is a full service private speech language clinic. Service fees are covered by many private health insurance plans under speech language therapy. The amount of coverage will depend upon an individual’s plan. There is no direct billing. Payment is by cash or cheque following each session. An official receipt will be issued after payment that can be submitted for reimbursement through an individual’s health plan coverage. |
